Moraine Park Board Approves Referendum Question For November Ballot

The Moraine Park Technical College District Board voted Wednesday to approve the final ballot language allowing the College to move forward with a $55 million referendum in the November election. The referendum would allow Moraine Park to borrow funds to update and expand Moraine Park facilities to meet the needs of business and industry in the region through four major projects between 2022 and 2025. Moraine Park President Bonnie Baerwald says, “Workforce growth is what will change our community, and as a technical college, we are the change agents. This referendum is vital to making change and growth happen at a time when technology and automation are influencing industry so rapidly.” Under the proposed $55 million facilities enhancement plan, annual property taxes would increase by 21 cents per $1,000 of property value or $21 per $100,000 of property value for no more than 20 years.

Ripon Chamber Changes

Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mandy Kimes

Now that people are getting to know her new Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mandy Kimes says people are not shy about sharing their ideas. Kimes, who succeeded Jason Mansmith as director in June, says there is a lot of forward momentum and that excitement about it is being shared. She says they are also making changes at the Chamber Office in the way they’ve done certain things because there is always a better way to do it. Kimes says that won’t affect their headline events like Septemberfest on September 17th and Dickens of a Christmas December 2nd and 3rd. There will be some new fun including a mascot dance party during Septemberfest and a one-man Dickens show during Dickens.

Employee Assistance Program

The supervisor for Ripon Community Hospital’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Department says sometimes employers will offer the availability of an Employee Assistance Program to help their employees deal with stress and other issues in their life. Laurie Rechek of SSM Health says it’s a program they offer called SSM Health at Work and is available through their Fond du Lac Regional Clinic. She says sometimes a problem can be solved with brief therapy sessions. She says they can also connect you with other resources that are available if for example someone is financially struggling.
