The Berlin Common Council will once again broach the subject of ATV and UTV use on City streets. Council member Luke Dretske says it will be on the Committee of the Whole agenda for their Tuesday night meeting at 7 pm.  He says those attending the National Night Out program at Berlin’s Riverside Park which runs from 4 to 7 pm. are welcome to swing by afterwards to give their view on ATV and UTV use. Dretske says he’s hoping there will be set routes if the Council ultimately approves the ATV and UTV use that might be linked up with other towns, rather than just blanket permission to allow their use on City streets. The Council previously voted down a proposal for ATV and UTV use in the City.

Markesan Phone Scam

Markesan Police says they recently received information about a person receiving a message from a group claiming to be a charity that helps Police and Fire Departments. The community member donated to the caller’s cause, but kept getting calls from this “group” for more money. In an effort to get them to stop calling the person called the number back, but the scammer was using a local business’s phone number that wasn’t associated with the scam. Scammers have the ability to use just about any phone number that shows up on caller ID to make it look like a “local” number. Police say do your research when giving to a charitable cause and if it involves emergency services or Veterans reach out to a local group in your community.
