RIPON — Cormac Madigan, a Ripon College senior from Rosendale, Wisconsin, has been selected for the 2022 Academic All-America Third Team in baseball by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
This award recognizes a limited number of collegiate student-athletes across the country for their outstanding accomplishments within the classroom.
Madigan, a chemistry-biology major, maintained a 4.00 grade-point average (GPA) while also contributing to his team’s success. He was one of 11 finalists named to the Third Team, representing Division III baseball. Only one other student-athlete who received Third Team recognition held a perfect 4.00 GPA. Madigan’s achievements also earned him a spot on CoSIDA’s Academic All-District First Team.
This season, Madigan started in 42 out of 43 of the Red Hawks’ games. He set the school record for single-season at-bats (186) and tied senior teammate Nick Terrell for the team’s most hits (65). He finished the season with 48 runs scored and a batting average of .349.
After graduation, he hopes to attend medical school.
