24 June 2022 News
A competency examination has been ordered for a 53-year-old Oshkosh man who told a former neighbor he was going to be the “next mass shooter.” A federal grand jury has indicted Whittier Ives on a felon in possession of a firearm charge. Ives former neighbor told Omro police Ives had come over to pick up some thingS he had been storing for him. That included a green duffle bag and shoe box that acquaintance knew Ives had a rifle and magazines in. That is also when Ives allegedly made a threat about shooting people at a club in Appleton. During a traffic stop on Ives truck police recovered a partially assembled AR-15 assault rifle, 600 rounds of ammo, and miscellaneous handgun ammo. In April a Winnebago County judge ordered a mental health commitment for Ives. He was prohibited from possessing a firearm as part of that order. Ives is being held in the Winnebago County jail.
