Victor Caratini and Hunter Renfroe hit two-run homers as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-3 Sunday for their fourth straight win.  The Brewers swept the three-game series and have won seven of their last nine.

Milwaukee took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning before Renfroe hit his 13th home run, a drive into the upper deck in left field off reliever Joel Kuhnel.

The Reds loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh off reliever Trevor Kelley. Left-hander Hoby Milner was brought in to face lefty-hitting Joey Votto, who struck out on four pitches.

Brewers starter Adrian Houser (4-7) had a solid outing, allowing four hits and three runs through six innings while striking out five. Devin Williams pitched the ninth for his fifth save.

The Brewers scored three in the fourth off Mike Minor (1-3). Andrew McCutchen doubled off the glove of leaping left fielder Tommy Pham and scored on a double by Luis Urías before Caratini’s homer.

The Reds scored three in the third, two of them on a double by Albert Almora Jr. After walking Aramis Garcia, Houser retired the side in order in the fifth and sixth innings.

RHP Corbin Burnes (4-4, 2.52) is scheduled to start tonight against St. Louis RHP Miles Mikolas (5-4, 2.62) to open a four-game series in Milwaukee. First pitch is at 7:10 and the game can be heard on AM 1100/98.3 FM, WISS.

On Saturday the Brewers released outfielder Lorenzo Cain, a 10-year veteran.  The 36-year old hit .179 with one home run and nine RBIs over 43 games this season.

Elsewhere in the NL Central Sunday the Red Sox beat the Cardinals 6-4, the Pirates edged the Giants 4-3 and the Braves shutout the Cubs 6-0.  The Brewers and Cardinals are tied for first in the division.

In the Midwest League Sunday Great Lakes won at home over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-2.  The T-Rats drop to 34-28 on the season while Great Lakes sits at 38-25.  There are no games scheduled today.

In the North Woods League Sunday the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders won on the road over the Madison Mallards 4-3.  The Dock Spiders return home tonight to take on the Mallards.  First pitch is at 6:35 at Herr-Baker Field.

The Stanley Cup Finals continue tonight at Tampa Bay.  Colorado leads 2-0 after winning 7-0 at home Saturday night.

Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick won the U.S. Open Sunday in Brookline, Massachusetts, shooting a final round two-under 68.  Will Zalatoris and Masters champions Scottie Scheffler finished one shot back  Fitzpatrick won the U.S. Amateur at Brookline in 2013, making him only the second man to win a U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open on the same course. Jack Nicklaus, the name on the gold winner’s medal draped around his neck, turned the trick at Pebble Beach. Juli Inkster won the U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Women’s Open at Prairie Dunes.
