After losing in extra innings at San Diego Monday night, the Brewers bounced back Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory over the Padres. After San Diego scored a run in the first inning, Mike Brosseau hit a solo home run, his third, off Blake Snell (0-2) to tie the game in the fifth inning and then Tony Taylor clubbed a three-run shot, his fourth, off Craig Stammen in the sixth to give the Brewers the final margin of victory. Brewers starter Corbin Burnes, now 2-2., went six innings, giving up one run on six hits while striking out five and walking two. Three Milwaukee relievers closed the door on the Padres over the final three innings. Snell took the loss. The two teams finish out their series this afternoon as left-hander Aaron Ashby (0-3, 3.49 ERA starts for Milwaukee against San Diego right-hander Yu Darvish (4-1, 3.91 ERA). First pitch is at 3:10 and the game can be heard on AM 1100/98.3 FM, WISS.
Elsewhere in the NL Central Wednesday the Rockies nipped the Pirates 2-1,the Cubs pounded the Reds 11-4 and the Blue Jays over the Cardinals 8-1. Milwaukee leads St. Louis by three games in the division.
Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers was one of several notable veterans missing as the Green Bay Packers began voluntary organized team activities this week. Packers coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Tuesday that Rodgers isn’t expected at all this week. The Packers conduct more OTAs next week, but Rodgers will be participating in “The Match” golf exhibition with fellow quarterbacks Josh Allen, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes on June 1.
“I talked to him for a while last night, which was great, just to kind of update him on just where we are and go over a few, like we do every offseason,” LaFleur said. “There’s always tweaks to what you’re doing. He’s in great spirits and it was a great conversation. But I wouldn’t anticipate seeing him at least this week.”
During an appearance on Pat McAfee’s SiriusXM and YouTube draft special last month, Rodgers said he planned on joining the Packers for their mandatory minicamp in June and “probably a few more days in May.”
Rodgers’ absence should give backup quarterback Jordan Love more reps as the 2020 first-round draft pick continues to make up for the time he lost from the pandemic-imposed virtual offseason his rookie year. Love started the Packers 13-7 loss at Kansas City last season when Rodgers was unavailable due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Other notable Packers missing from Tuesday’s volunteer workout included cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Rasul Douglas, wide receivers Allen Lazard and Sammy Watkins and outside linebackers Rashan Gary and Preston Smith.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, fellow two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Devin Booker and Jayson Tatum were voted first-team All-NBA on Tuesday, the first time in 67 years all five players were age 27 or younger. Milwaukee’s Antetokounmpo was the only player to receive all 100 possible first-team votes and finished with 500 points in his fourth consecutive first-team selection. Denver’s Jokic and Dallas’ Doncic each received 88 first-team votes and 476 points.
Doncic joined Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant and Max Zaslofsky as the only players to make the first team three or more times before turning 24, while Phoenix’s Booker (460 points) and Boston’s Tatum (390) both were first-time selections to the first team. Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, the NBA’s leading scorer and runner-up to Jokic for MVP, led the second team. He was joined by Ja Morant, winner of the Most Improved Player award, Durant, Stephen Curry and DeMar DeRozan.
The third team was Karl-Anthony Towns, LeBron James — who earned his 18th All-NBA selection — Chris Paul, Trae Young and Pascal Siakam.

Oshkosh West High School is excited to celebrate the legacy of a very special teacher and coach. All are invited to attend the dedication of Braugeor Zeitler Tennis Center on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at 1 p.m. The ceremony will take place in the parking lot next to the school’s newly constructed tennis courts, located on Southland Avenue on the southwest corner of Oshkosh West High School (375 N Eagle Street). Standing room will be available or attendees can bring their own lawn chairs. Light refreshments will be served during a reception immediately following the dedication ceremony. The celebration will be moved indoors in the event of inclement weather.
For more than 30 years Braugeor Zeitler was an instrumental leader in the boys and girls tennis programs at Oshkosh West High School. He led the boys team from 1972-2004 and the girls team from 1987-2001. During that time, both teams won two Fox Valley Association (FVA) championships and Zeitler was named the FVA Boys Tennis Coach of the Year. Zeitler was also a longtime art teacher at Oshkosh West from 1972-1999. Additionally, Zeitler was involved in the Oshkosh Recreation Department and served as a tennis pro at several local clubs. He also helped establish the Oshkosh Tennis Association Summer Youth Program and the U.S. Tennis Association Summer Tennis Program at Oshkosh West.
