20 May 2022 News
Some Ripon residents were displaced by a fire in their home Friday morning. Firefighters responded to the fire at 505 Metomen Street around 9:30 am. Firefighters were on the scene by 9:33. Ripon Area Fire District Chief Tim Saul says the fire was restricted to a back bedroom on the first floor. Although no humans were injured during the fire Saul says some cats, two dogs, and two hamsters perished despite the efforts of Ripon Guardian Ambulance to resuscitate them. Chief Saul says there was nothing suspicious about the fire but says people should pay attention to their electrical outlets and extension cords. There was smoke damage throughout the home. In addition to Ripon Area Fire District, fire departments from the City of Fond du Lac, Brandon-Fairwater, and Markesan responded to the scene. Ripon Police assisted with traffic near one of the city’s busiest intersections. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross and Traded Treasures. (Photos taken by Bruce Link)
