Ripon, WI- Ripon Public Library is excited to announce its April 2022 lineup of special events for all ages! Thanks to funding from the Friends of the library, events and special offerings are always free. Registration is not required unless noted.
April Programs
April Take & Make
April is National Poetry Month! April is National Poetry Month! Celebrate by creating your own black out poetry. Blackout poetry is created by taking a page of a book or magazine and blacking out some words, to come up with your very own poem! Kits can be picked up at the checkout desk starting April 4th!
Movie on the Big Screen
Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. all ages are invited to enjoy this eagerly anticipated, family friendly, animated sequel. Don’t miss this lovable cast of singers as they reach for the stars again! The title is available on the library website and Facebook. Popcorn will be served! (Rated PG, 112 minutes)
Storytime
Storytimes focus on active learning and fun on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am, from April 12 through May 10. Early literacy and STEM concepts come to life through stories, music, movement, and enrichment activities with themes to celebrate the arrival of spring! Storytimes are designed for 2–4-year-olds, accompanied by their caregiver, but enjoyable for the whole family. Stay and play in the Romper Room after Storytime.
Teen Baking Challenge: Soft Pretzels
Do you like to bake? Are you up for a challenge? Try making your own soft pretzels! Take part in our Teen Baking Challenge by picking up a kit with most of your baking ingredients from the checkout desk starting April 13th! You can share a picture of how your soft pretzels turned out by emailing them to RPLStaff@riponlibrary.org, photos emailed to us will be share on our website and Facebook!
Pinterest Craft Club
Pinterest Craft Club is doing a guided painting of daisies in a jar on April 28th at 6:00 p.m.! Image of the painting we will be doing can be found on the library website on events. Registration required. Please call the Library to register at 748-6160. Teen/Adult program
Arbor Day Community Celebration!
In honor of national Arbor Day, the City of Ripon works to reclaim its status as a Tree City! This free event, for all ages, is hosted by the Ripon Public Library on Saturday, April 30th at 10:00 am. Enjoy free 2-year-old red oak trees from the Ripon Public Library, information about being a Tree City USA, and a Nature Adventure for children & families led by young naturalist Liam, age 8. Liam’s active learning event explores birds, their miraculous nest building abilities, how humans can assist, a nature hike, and a super cool natural weaving craft. Trees available while supplies last.
Spring Book Sale
Mark the calendars now! Don’t miss the Friends of the Library’s book sale with like-new treasures for all ages, stages, and interests on April 28 through 30.
- A limited number of low contact / family appointments are available Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning during the week of the book sale – call the library for more information
- Thursday, Apr. 28, 4:00 – 7:30 Early Bird sale – $3 cover charge WAIVED!
- Friday, Apr. 29, 10:00 – 5:00
- Saturday, Apr. 30, 10:00 – 3:00 BAG SALE! $3 / bag (Last Chance Room & SO MUCH MORE included in this sale – you’ll be AMAZED!); Showroom will be open at regular prices.
- Payments accepted by cash or check. Credit/debit card accepted with a $10 minimum purchase.
Ongoing Programs
Romper Room
Physical activity and human connections are important for healthy, happy human beings, and the Romper Room facilitates both! Focusing on active play the room features a trike & trailer, foot-to-floor vehicles, a balance bike, tunnels, tumbling mats, balance beams, and more. The Romper Room is most engaging for ages 2-6 years. The RR is thoroughly sanitized after every use. Reserve a play time with family and friends by the library.
Monday Matinees
Every Monday at 2:00 p.m. enjoy a newly released or classic film on the big screen. For movie title and rating call the library or check the website.
Book Bites
Take a morsel-sized look at a great book with Adult & Teen Services Librarian Rachel. New episodes of Book Bites will be posted every two weeks on our Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram!
