4/8/22 Chemical Spill At Milk Specialties In FDL
8 April 2022 News
Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue dealt with a hazardous materials spill at Milk Specialties on Tompkins Street Thursday. Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says what was believed to be a chemical spill that caused a chlorine gas leak was reported shortly after 11:30 am at the plant at 325 Tompkins Street. That led to the evacuation of homes in a several block area of what is primarily a residential neighborhood. He says at one point there was a yellow plume above the plant. That plume dissipated and crews were able to safely bring the incident to an end. No injuries were reported. An investigation into what caused the leak will be conducted. Members of OSHA were also at the scene. Due to the hazmat situation outdoor warning sirens were not activated for the second tornado drill scheduled for 6:45 last night.
