4/23/22 FDL Man Pleads To Homicide By Intoxicated Use Of A Vehicle

A 30-year-old Fond du Lac man Friday pled no contest to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. The plea made by David Worley came days before a 5-day jury trial was to start. Worley was driving drunk on September 15th of 2020 when his vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Johnson and Main Streets in Fond du Lac and crashed into a city ambulance. A passenger in his car, a 21-year-old Fond du Lac man died in the collision. The two paramedics and patient in the ambulance suffered minor injuries. Worley’s blood alcohol level at the time was more than 2 ½ times the legal limit. The former Theresa man told investigators he did not remember the accident. Worley will be sentenced on July 7th and could get up to 15 years in prison, 10 years of extended supervision, and fines of up to $100,000.
