Sports for Friday

The Bucks are at Chicago tonight in game-three of their Eastern Conference playoffs.  The Bulls are coming off a 114-110 win at Milwaukee Wednesday night which evened their series at a game apiece.  DeMar DeRozan led Chicago with 41 points while Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks 33.  Tipoff is at 7:30.

Meanwhile Bucks forward Khris Middleton is expected to miss at least two weeks after injuring his left knee Wednesday night in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series with the Chicago Bulls.  The Bucks announced Thursday night that the three-time All-Star had undergone an MRI earlier that day and that they would offer their next status update on him in “approximately two weeks.”

That likely knocks him out at least for the rest of the Bucks-Bulls  series.  If the series goes the full seven games, it would end May 1.

Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said after he Bucks’ 114-110 loss Wednesday that Middleton had a sprained medial collateral ligament. The MRI confirmed that diagnosis.

The Bucks did get some good news Thursday.   Their injury report for Game 3 doesn’t include forward Bobby Portis, an indication he should be available to play after missing most of Game 2 with a right eye abrasion. Portis took a hit to the face from Chicago’s Tristan Thompson late in the first quarter as both players were going after a rebound.

Milwaukee won’t have reserve guard George Hill, who still hasn’t played in this series due to an abdominal strain.

Last night in the NBA playoffs, Memphis won at Minnesota 104-95 and lead that series 2-1. Dallas downed Utah 126-118 and leads in that series 2-1 and Golden State beat Denver 118-113 to lead 3-0 in their series.

In other games tonight Miami (2-0) is at Atlanta and Phoenix is at New Orleans with that series tied at one.

After an off-day Thursday the Brewers are in Philadelphia tonight for a weekend series against the Phillies.  Milwaukee (8-5) is coming off a three-game home sweep of the Pirates and have won four-in a-row.  The Brewers are tied with the Cardinals for first place in the NL Central.

Right-hander Freddy Peralta (0-1) is on the mound for the Brewers against Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez (1-0).

In games Thursday in the division the Marlins beat the Cardinals 5-0 and the Pirates nipped the Cubs 4-3.  First pitch is at 6:05 and the game be heard on AM 1100/98.3 FM, WISS.

After bouncing around with several teams in the NFL, linebacker DeVondre Campbell landed in Green Bay last season and made an Immediate impact.  He was rewarded with a long-term contract in the off-season and says it feels great to finally find a home.

Campbell said he was more productive in Green Bay because he got to settle in at the “MIKE” linebacker position rather than having to fill multiple roles. Campbell said he often had to alternate between “MIKE” linebacker, strong-side linebacker and weak-side linebacker on his previous teams.
