Busy Year For Highway Improvement In FDL County
It’s going to be a busy year for highway projects for the Fond du Lac County Highway Department. Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says one of their bigger projects involves improvements to Pioneer Road from Johnson Street or State Highway 23 to Forest Avenue in Fond du Lac. He says while they are doing that the state will be working on changes to the intersection at Highway 23 and Pioneer Road. He says his crews have already started on improvements to County Highway G from the Village of St. Cloud to State Highway 23. Part of County Highway K will be reconstructed and there will be paving projects on County Highways SS, V and W. There is also a bridge replacement on County Highway G. Meanwhile the state continues its work on the four-lane expansion project for Highway 23 between Highway 151 in Fond du Lac and Seven Hills Road.

Timing Your Second COVID Booster Shot
There’s some question about how long a second booster shot for COVID-19 is effective. Jeff Puhlmann-Becker of the disbanded Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force says some data shows the second booster shot will provide added protection for about 8 weeks before that immunity level falls back to the base line you were at after the first booster. He says he read about a couple that will be getting the second booster just before a planned trip overseas. The added protection may be a plus during spikes in COVID activity levels, but it is hard to gauge when that is going to occur. However, Puhlmann-Becker says the science behind testing wastewater for viruses like COVID is becoming more reliable although that type of testing isn’t universal.
