Wisconsin saw a surge in new COVID-19 cases Wednesday with 1,585 new cases reported. Department of Health Services’ officials say that’s due in part to test results from Monday and Tuesday coming back, but also follows a weekend of family gatherings and religious services for the Easter holiday. It is the most cases in a single day since mid-February. It caused the 7-day rolling average for new cases to jump from 647 to 762. Three deaths were also reported and 34 hospitalizations. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 141 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state with 24 in intensive care units.

Winnebago County reported 51 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday. Thirty-six (36) new cases were recorded in Fond du Lac County and Dodge and Waupaca counties both had 9 new cases. Green Lake County had 4 new cases and Waushara County had 2 new cases of the coronavirus.
