GREEN LAKE, WI, April 13, 2021 — Town Square Community Center’s ballroom will be transformed into the Las Vegas Hilton Showroom when Elvis impersonator John Van Thiel takes the stage on Saturday, April 23.
Van Thiel, of Racine, is the featured entertainment at Town Square’s Las Vegas Supper Club dinner which combines the glitz and glamor of a Las Vegas night out with the nostalgia of a Wisconsin supper club.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktail hour in the Town Square lobby. Guests will move upstairs to the ballroom for dinner at 7 p.m. and the live entertainment begins at 8 p.m.
Van Thiel brings Elvis to life with his remarkable voice, whether singing an early rocker, a soulful ballad, or a hip-swiveling movie tune.
“It’s all about authenticity. I try to sound as close to the original as possible,” he said. “It’s the little touches that make the difference. The ultimate compliment for me is when people think I’m lip-syncing.”
Van Thiel’s passion for singing began at an early age by watching Elvis movies on television, but it wasn’t until recently that he began performing. Encouraged by an overwhelming audience response at an amateur contest he won, Van Thiel entered a national competition at a Milwaukee casino and landed third place. Now he performs throughout the state, both individually and with oldies tribute shows.
The Las Vegas Supper Club event will feature a classic prime rib dinner catered by Green Lake’s Goose Blind Grill & Bar, signature brandy old fashioneds, casino games and plenty of Sin City-inspired surprises. Throughout the night attendees will be able to try their luck at several Las Vegas-style 50-50 raffles and games of chance with proceeds benefiting Town Square.
Tickets, which are expected to sell out, are $55 per person or $500 for a premier table of eight which includes two bottles of wine and V.I.P. seating. Limited tickets are available now at greenlaketownsquare.org.
