Fire At AF Gelhar In Markesan

Firefighters with the Grand River Fire District in Markesan responded to a wash plant fire at AF Gelhar at N2402 Green Lake County Highway A late Thursday morning for a “Wash Plant” fire. Once they arrived at the scene fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control. The fire was limited to a wash tank/conveyor system. It is believed the fire started while outside contractors were using a cutting torch to cut apart a tank igniting the liner of the tank. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is being determined. Seven other fire departments assisted Grand River firefighters.
