According to a report by ESPN, the Packers have restructured running back Aaron Jones’ contract to create more cap space.
Green Bay moved $3.8 million dollars of Jones contract into a signing bonus and added two void years. That will create an additional $3 million dollars in cap space for this upcoming season.
Brian Gutekunst and the Packers front office has created over $14 million dollars in cap room after restructuring the contracts of Jones and defensive lineman Kenny Clark over the last couple of days. On Wednesday Gutekunst met with the media to preview the upcoming scouting combine, and commented on the restructuring of Clark’s deal. Hinting that there will be more moves to come in order to help the Packers get out of their salary cap concerns, that were nearly $50 million dollars at the start of the offseason.

As the Ripon College men’s basketball team prepares to host the Midwest Conference Tournament this weekend for the first time in 23 years, the Red Hawks received a pair of All-Conference honors, released Thursday by the conference office. Junior guard Ryan Steffes was Ripon’s lone First Team selection, while junior center David De Valk earned a spot on the Second Team.
A Business Management major from St. Cloud, Wis., Steffes is making his first All-Conference appearance, after leading the Red Hawks in scoring this season with 13.1 points per game. He also finished the regular season averaging team-highs of 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game, while ranking third in rebounding with five boards per contest. Steffes is shooting 44.6 percent from the field this season, including 41.5 percent from 3-point range, while also converting 78.3 percent of his free throws, which ranks third in the MWC.
De Valk is an Economics major from Appleton, WIs., who is also making his first appearance on the All-Conference team. He ranks fourth in the MWC this season in both rebounding (8.0 rpg) and blocked shots (1.3 bpg), while his 35 blocks this season already rank third in program history for a single season. De Valk also averaged 11.2 points per game, which ranks third on the team, while shooting a team-best 54.6 percent from the field.
After leading the Red Hawks to their first regular season conference championship in 23 years, Ripon College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ryan Kane has been named Midwest Conference Coach of the Year. This marks the first Coach of the Year award of Kane’s career, and is the first time a Ripon coach has earned the honor since 1998 when Bob Gillespie received that distinction.
In his 10th season at the helm of the Red Hawks, Kane directed his team to a 17-8 overall record, marking their eighth consecutive season of at least 15 wins, which is the second-longest such streak in program history. The Red Hawks also finished with a 13-3 conference record and the number one seed in this weekend’s MWC Tournament, which will be hosted by Ripon for the first time since 1999.
In his 10 seasons at Ripon, Kane’s team has missed the MWC Tournament just once. He has compiled a career record of 150-77, including a home record of 73-25, making Weiske Gymnasium one of the toughest places to play in the MWC. He has also produced a conference record of 115-49 during his tenure.

Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association met for a fourth straight day of bargaining talks on Thursday in Jupiter, Fla., though the union returned to the table with only a pair of incremental tweaks to its prior proposals. The two areas addressed were the Draft lottery and service time manipulation, as the MLBPA’s stance on larger issues such as Super 2 eligibility, the pre-arbitration bonus pool, the competitive balance tax and revenue sharing remained the same.
The MLBPA’s adjustment in its Draft lottery proposal involved the reduction in penalties for small-market teams that finish in the lottery in consecutive seasons, though the union is still asking for the top seven picks to be chosen in the NBA-style lottery.
MLB has offered a system in which the top four picks would be chosen via lottery, the same number used by the NBA and twice as many as the NHL’s system.
The other change in the union’s proposal Thursday involved the potential rewarding of a full year of service time to rookies based on their finish in awards voting and/or placement on year-end WAR leaderboards for their respective positions.

The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Westchester Knicks 125-86. The Knicks took an early lead by 20 points in the first quarter. The Herd outscored the Knicks 20-16 in the second quarter, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead. The Knicks won 125-86.
Terry Larrier led the Herd with 18 points and 5 rebounds while Wenyen Gabriel added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Sibert played in his debut with the Herd scoring 11 points and 4 rebounds.
The Herd will play again at home on Saturday, February 26 against the Westchester Knicks with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, acquired Jordan Sibert from the College Park Skyhawks in exchange for a 3rd Round Pick in the 2022 NBA G League Draft.
