Town Square Blood Drive
12 January 2022 News
GREEN LAKE, WI, — The American Red Cross is facing a national blood
crisis – its worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care.
Blood and platelet donations are critically needed to help prevent delays in vital medical
treatments.
To help fight this national blood crisis, Town Square Community Center is partnering with The
American Red Cross to host a community blood drive on Wednesday, January 26 at 492 Hill
Street in Green Lake. Appointments are required and can be made online at redcrossblood.org.
January is National Blood Donor Month which makes now the perfect time to donate blood and
help save lives.
“Each pint of blood collected can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many
more,” said Town Square Executive Director Fran Hill. “What a great way to pay it forward and
make an impact on people in our community and across the country.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in
the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished,
according to the Red Cross.
“We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals
have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling
than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
Those who give blood in January will automatically be entered for a chance to win a getaway to
Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles. As an extra thank-you from the Red Cross, those who come to
donate will also be automatically entered to win a home theater package and a $500 e-gift card.
