New COVID Cases In Wisconsin Reach Record Levels

State health officials Thursday reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day yet with 11,547 people testing positive. That shattered the record 10,288 cases reported the previous day. The state also reported that the number of total deaths during the pandemic has now reached 10,253 lives lost with the 7-day rolling average at 22 deaths per day. The Wisconsin Hospital Association says for the second straight day the number of people hospitalized with COVID topped 2,000 with 2,060. Of that 475 patients were in intensive care units. The number of Wisconsin counties with “critically high” levels of COVID cases is at 47 with the remaining 25 counties at the “very high” level.

Hundreds of new COVID-19 cases were reported in Dodge, Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties Thursday. Winnebago had the most with 475, following by Fond du Lac County with 354 new cases, and Dodge County had 267 new cases. Waupaca County recorded 108 new cases, Green Lake County had 41 new cases, and Waushara County had 25 new coronavirus cases and 1 death.
