COVID 19 Report Tuesday
5 January 2022 News
The state’s Department of Health Services reported a shocking number of new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, 8,058. That is likely the highest number of new cases reported in Wisconsin in a single day during the pandemic, but the DHS says that number is tempered by the fact that data is still coming in from the holiday weekend and the Omicron variant is still spreading. That raised the 7-day rolling average for new cases to 5,711. Fifty-eight more deaths were also reported pushing the death toll in the state during the pandemic to 10,133 lives lost. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 1,963 COVID-19 hospitalizations across the state with a record 462 of those patients in intensive care units.
Winnebago County Tuesday reported 114 new COVID-19 cases. Three-hundred and forty-five (345) new cases were recorded in Fond du Lac County and Dodge County had 92 cases. Green Lake County had 26 new cases, Waupaca County had 48 new cases and 1 death, and Waushara County reported 47 new cases of the coronavirus.
