Wisconsin saw drops in some key COVID-19 metrics over the weekend. The state’s Department of Health Services reported 22,420 new cases since Friday and of that, 5,042 new cases on Monday. That’s the first time the state has been below 10,000 new cases since January 9th. The state’s 7-day rolling average for new cases plunged more than 6,000 to 11,127 cases. Wisconsin did see 56 more deaths over the weekend and 251 hospitalizations. The Wisconsin Hospital Association Monday reported 1,930 COVID hospitalizations across the state with 391 of those patients in intensive care units.
Winnebago County reported 868 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend as it passed 39,000 total cases (39,677). Fond du Lac County eclipsed 27,000 total cases over the weekend (27,157) with 560 new cases and Dodge County had 401 new cases and 1 death. Sixty-eight (68) new cases were recorded in Green Lake County, 169 new cases in Waupaca County, and Waushara County had 174 new cases of the coronavirus.
