Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services reported 15,486 new COVID-19 cases yesterday raising the 7-day rolling average for new cases to 18,836. The state’s chief medical officer Dr. Ryan Westergaard says the omicron variant hasn’t peaked in the state yet even though there are encouraging signs it is waning in parts of the U.S. where it was first detected. The DHS also reported 41 more deaths and 233 hospitalizations. The Wisconsin Hospital Association Thursday reported 2,099 COVID-19 patients in the state’s 136 hospitals with 445 of them in intensive care units.
Winnebago County Thursday moved past 38,000 (38,328) total COVID cases since the pandemic began with 554 new cases and 2 deaths. Two hundred and eighty-four (284) new cases were recorded in Fond du Lac County and Dodge County had 203 new cases. Green Lake County had 56 new cases, Waupaca County had 145 new cases, and Waushara County reported 93 new cases of the coronavirus.
