Omro Man Facing Charges For Incidents In Omro And Oshkosh

A 34-year-old Omro man wanted in connection with a shooting incident in Omro late Tuesday night was arrested in Oshkosh Wednesday following a standoff incident with area law enforcement. Omro Police responded to the 500 block of Billie Jo Court for a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found a car with several gun shots through the windshield. Witnesses heard 7 shots fired. The suspect’s vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. It was located in the 300 block of North Westhaven Driven in Oshkosh about 90 minutes later. The suspect fled on foot with a handgun. Law enforcement officers set up a perimeter around the area. The suspect was located at 9 am at a residence in the 1100 block of Cumberland Trail. After negotiations he ultimately came out of the residence and was taken into custody. Omro Police say the suspect is Carl Hohenstein, Jr and he is facing felon in possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment, criminal damage to property, bail jumping, and disorderly conduct and probation violation charges. Oshkosh Police are charging him with resisting an officer, felon in possession of a firearm, and misdemeanor bail jumping charges. No one was hurt in either incident.
