No Open Meetings Violation
The Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to pursue a case against the Oshkosh Area School District Board of Education for an allegedly violation of the state’s open meetings law during an August 25th meeting of the board. School Board President Bob Poeschl issued a statement Friday to clarify what happened when those opposed to the district’s masking policy interrupted the meeting. He says the scheduled meeting was never called to order and when the board left the room and went to the superintendent’s office they did not discuss business. He and the superintendent went to nearby office where they called the district’s legal counsel and consulted with Oshkosh Police. Poeschl then decided to postpone the meeting. He and the superintendent informed board members who then left the building while Poeschl went back to the board room to announce the meeting was postponed. The Wisconsin Transparency Project complained to the DA’s office about the possible open meetings law violation.

Thanksgiving Visit COVID Protection
Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force member Jeff Puhlmann-Becker and his family hosted their first family holiday gathering in a year and a half during the Thanksgiving holiday. He notes exposure to COVID-19 has increased in the Ripon area in the past few weeks, but they didn’t have to worry about those who were vaccinated against the virus. He says an elderly member of the family wasn’t vaccinated so they created an air flow in the house using a cracked window and fans that kept their guests comfortable. He feels that was pretty effective and most of their guests were oblivious to the effort.
