Packers head coach Matt LaFleur met with the media Monday following the Packers 13-7 loss at Kansas City Sunday in Jordan Love’s first start at quarterback.  LaFleaur said while Love went through the usual ups and downs a young quarterback goes through, there were some positives. He also  reiterated that he was disappointed with some of the things done not to give Love more protection from the Chiefs pressure.

Love will have plenty to work on as he gets the first team reps during practice again this week with Aaron Rodgers not eligible to come off the COVID-19 reserve list until Saturday. In the meantime LaFleur and company will have to get their reigning MVP ready to play virtually while Love works on the field, saying Rodgers is “always a big part of our process as far as how we game plan, and that won’t change this week.”

The Packers (7-2) host the Seattle Seahawks (3-5) who will have quarterback Russell Wilson back.  He’s returning from a broken finger. . The Seattle quarterback tweeted this Monday morning, leaving little doubt about his return, saying “it’s time.”

Wilson sat out 4 weeks after dislocating the middle finger on his throwing hand, which required surgery. Seattle went 1-2 in his absence; they had their bye this past weekend. The last time Wilson faced the Packers was in the 2019 Divisional round of the playoffs. The Packers won the game 28-23, sacking Wilson 5 times.

A wild Monday Night Football game ended a weekend of crazy results.  After the Bears went ahead 27-26 on a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Steelers kicker Chris Boswell won it with a 40-yard field goal to give Pittsburgh a 29-27 win.  Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields moved the Bears down the field on two touchdown drives to lead the Bears back.  Pittsburgh led 14-3 at halftime and 20-6 at the end of three quarters, before the Bears stormed with 21 fourth-quarter points to take a 27-26 lead. Fields was 17-29 for 291 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger was 21-30 for 205 yards and two touchdowns.

State Farm appears to be sticking with spokesman Aaron Rodgers after the Packers quarterback tested positive for COVID-19 and shared views on the vaccine.

“Aaron Rodgers has been a great ambassador for our company for much of the past decade. We don’t support some of the statements that he has made, but we respect his right to have his own personal point of view. We recognize our customers, employees, agents and brand ambassadors come from all walks of life, with differing viewpoints on many issues. Our mission at State Farm is to support safer, stronger communities. To that end, we encourage vaccinations, but respect everyone’s right to make a choice based on their personal circumstances,” reads a statement released by the company.

This comes as research shows the insurance company’s Rodgers commercials dropped significantly after his comments on the COVID-19 vaccine.

President Joe Biden welcomed the NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks to the White House on Monday, praising team members not just for their achievements on the court, but also for their efforts to promote coronavirus vaccinations and for speaking out after the 2020 police shooting of Jacob Blake sparked protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Bucks were the first NBA champions to visit the White House in nearly five years.

Milwaukee (4-6) is at Philadelphia (8-3) tonight.

The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, started their 2021-22 campaign with a 126-124 win over the Cleveland Charge at Oshkosh Arena on Monday night. With the game tied at 124, it was Rayjon Tucker who gave the Herd the season-opening win after hitting a 10-foot baseline jumper with only three-tenths of a second remaining in the game. The game-winner also gave Chaisson Allen his first-career victory as head coach of the Herd.

Tucker finished the night with 17 points while Lindell Wigginton led the Herd with 22 points. Wenyen Gabriel (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Tremont Waters (17 points, 12 assists) tallied double-doubles for Wisconsin, while Javin DeLaurier came off the bench and scored 20 points.
