Sports for November 30th

As the Packers leave for some well-deserved rest during their bye week quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he will not have surgery on his broken toe at this time. This according to NFL Network reporters Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Rapoport’s sources tell him the team hopes the toe will heal during the bye week. Rodgers said that he did not plan to miss games due to the injury. Rodgers said his toe “felt good most of the game,” following Sunday’s 36-28 win over the Rams.  Rodgers finished 28/45 with 307 passing yards throwing for two touchdowns and running for one.  After the bye week, the Packers host the Bears at Lambeau Field on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 7:20 p.m.

UW-Oshkosh head football coach Pat Cerroni announced his retirement Monday after 15 seasons at the helm of the Titans program. Cerroni compiled a 109-45 record since taking over the program in 2007, the most of any UW-Oshkosh head coach in the program’s 126 year history. Leading the Titans to four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, five NCAA tournament appearances, and one trip to the Division III National Championship Game in 2016.

It was a wild finish last night but the Washington Football Team held on for a 17-15 win over the Seattle Seahawks.  With a little over two minutes left, Washington was stopped at the Seahawks three-yard line on a fourth-and-goal and Seattle took over.  After not moving the ball during the second half,  Russell Wilson suddenly got hot led the team downfield for a touchdown to get within two points.  But the two point conversion failed and Seattle failed on the ensuing onside kick and Washington was able to hold on for the victory.   Quarterback Taylor Heinicke was 27-35 for 223 yards, a touchdown pass to J.D.  McKissic and an interception.  Washington’s Antonio Gibson rushed 29 times for 111 yards and McKissic picked up 30 yards and scored a touchdown.  The Seahawks Russell Wilson ended up 20-31 for 247 yards and two touchdowns but was ineffective for most of the second half. Tyler Lockett caught three passes for 96 yards and Wilson’s touchdown passes went to Gerald Everett and Freddie Swan.  Seattle’s rushing game was held to just 34 yards.  Washington improves to 5-6 while the Seahawks drop to 3-8 and are virtually eliminated from any playoff hopes.
