Missing Child Alert Goes Wider Than Anticipated
A missing 3-year-old child in Beaver Dam was found safe in the city, but an attempt to alert the public about the missing child went far wider than the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department intended it to. A technical problem with the automated alert phone system sent the notification out early Monday morning to more county residents than intended resulting in a number of residents contacting the Sheriff’s office with concerns about the incident. Beaver Dam Police say the child wandered into a nearby unlocked apartment on Knaup Drive after being attracted to lights and sirens from fire trucks and police cars at a nearby fire scene.
Take A Break
The Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health for SSM Health’s Treffert Center and Autism Services recommends giving yourself a break during the holidays from the barrage of COVID-19 coverage. Dr. Matt Doll says the holidays can be stressful enough without the added burden of the epidemic so try to eliminate those sneak peaks at social media and other stress triggers and just enjoy your time with family and friends. He says the pandemic is real and has added a lot of stress to people’s lives, but we need a break from that at times. He points out with the added stress of the health crisis 40 to 50 percent of us might need some type of mental health help.

Big Bird Comes Out Pro Vaccine
Pro-vaxxers recently got a big celebrity endorsement for efforts to get kids and adults vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. Sesame Street’s Big Bird got vaccinated. Jeff Puhlmann-Becker says even though that may seem political it is a good way to get the message across to 5 to 11 year old kids that are becoming eligible to receive the vaccine and their parents. He notes when he was growing up his younger brother watched Sesame Street and he watched too getting the subtle humor in it that kids might not get but their parents would pick up on. Appropriately Big Bird Tweeted about the experience. He added that he had no idea but he had been getting vaccines since he was a little bird.
