Tissue Paper Painting Class Offered Through Town Square
9 October 2021 News
GREEN LAKE, WI — Learn how to “paint” with tissue paper at Town Square
Community Center on Wednesday, October 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. During this art class,
participants will turn tissue paper into pieces of beautiful art on canvas.
“Creative communities are communities that flourish,” said Fran Hill, executive director of Town
Square Community Center. “This class is an excellent opportunity for our community members
to flex their creative muscle and try something new.”
The class will be led by instructor Sue Benesch who has lived in the U.P. for 40 years, including
living off-grid on the Stonington Peninsula. She has spent long, quiet hours concentrating on
ways tissue paper, typically known as a children’s craft, can be turned into adult art. The finished
product has been mistaken for watercolor paint because of the layered transparencies that
tissue paper takes on when water is applied.
The project will have a fall leaves theme, incorporating autumnal-inspired shapes and vibrant
colors. All materials are supplied and attendees will leave the class with a unique piece of art on
canvas to decorate their homes or give as a gift.
Tickets are $40 and available at greenlaketownsquare.org. Class size is limited.
