Ripon School Staff Member Being Investigated For Possible Child Porn Possession
28 October 2021 News
The Ripon Area School District has placed an employee on leave following a search of that staff member’s home last Thursday. Search warrants indicate the search was related to child pornography. District Superintendent Mary Whitrock said in an email to parents last Friday that they are monitoring the situation, but they need to let the law enforcement system do its work. A Ripon Police Department investigator received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. One IP address in the tip returned to Ripon and the Internet Service Provider returned to the school district. An investigator with the Wisconsin Department of Justice helped get a subpoena for a telecommunications company after another IP address returned to Ripon and the ISP to the telecommunications company. That led to subscriber information and the school staffer’s home. The cybertip to police contained several images of young girls in sexualized poses. During the execution of search warrants at the school staffer’s home police seized electronic devices, hard drives, and disks. Police have not been commenting on the ongoing investigation.
