The Packers are faced with COVID-19 issues heading into the Arizona game Thursday after wide receiver Davante Adams placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.  Putting Adams on the reserve/COVID-19 list means he either tested positive for COVID-19, or has been in close contact with an infected person or persons. Teams are not allowed to comment on a player’s medical status regarding COVID-19 other than referring to roster status.

Adams leads the Packers in catches (52) and receiving yards (744). He is tied for second in the NFL in catches and alone in third in yards among all receivers. The Cardinals move from a 4.5- to a 6-point favorite vs. the Packers at Caesars Sportsbook with the Adams news.

The Packers also could be without their defensive coordinator Thursday when they face the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.  Joe Barry has tested positive for COVID-19.

Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that the team is in advanced COVID-19 protocols with the possibility of other staff members being positive. All coaches meetings Monday were virtual.   LaFleur is holding out hope for a possibility that Barry could join the team Thursday. LaFleur says Barry is vaccinated against COVID-19 and needs two negative tests.

In Monday Night Football the visiting New Orleans Saints edged the Seattle Seahawks 13-10 on rookie kicker Brian Johnson’s 33 yard field goal.  It was Johnson’s first game in the NFL.  The game was a defensive struggle all the way through as the both offenses had trouble sustaining drives.  The Saints Alvin Kamara provided most of the offense for the Saints, catching 10 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown and also rushing for 51 yards on 20 carries. Quarterback Jameis Winston was 19-35 for 222 yards and a touchdown.  The Saints Geno Smith was 12-22 for 167 yards and a touchdown to wide receiver DK Metcalf. The Saints improve to 4-2 while the Seahawks drop to 2-5.

In the NBA Monday night the Bucks won their second straight game, beating the Pacers on the road 119-109.  Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 30 points and 10 rebounds while Khris Middleton scored 27.  The Bucks improve to 3-1.

The World Series gets underway tonight in Houston as the Astros host the Atlanta Braves.  The Braves send right-hander Charlie Morton (14-6, 3:34 ERA/216 strikeouts) against Astros left-hander Framber Valdez (11-6, 3.14 ERA/125 strikeouts).  Morton is 0-1 in the post season while Valdez is 1-0.  First pitch is at 7:09 CDT.

Longtime Milwaukee Brewers coach Ed Sedar has retired after a 30-year career with the organization. The 60-year-old Sedar had worked as the Brewers’ first base coach from 2007 until 2010 and third base coach from 2011 until 2020. He spent this season as an adviser to the Brewers’ major league coaching staff. Sedar previously worked with the Brewers as a minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator starting in 1992. Before beginning his coaching career, Sedar was a minor league outfielder for eight seasons in the Chicago White Sox organization.
