Sports for October 21str

Some good news on the Packers injury front Wednesday as Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari returned to practice for the first time since suffering a torn ACL last December. The makeshift offensive line, that has also included losing Bakhtiari’s replacement Elgton Jenkins for a good amount of time, has held up pretty good for the most part.  Still there’s something that gets added to the line with Bakhtiari closer to a return to game action.  Bakhtiari was not listed on the Packers injury report Wednesday because he’s still officially on the Physically Unable to Perform List (PUP), and a return to game action is still unknown.

“It’s a good having him back. He’s a stud. He’s a future hall of famer. He has a different focus, I think, when it comes to him being on the field. A different comfort for myself and really I think everybody else,” said quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Also on Wednesday center Josh Myers missed practice because of a knee injury as did tackle Dennis Kelley (back), safety Darnell Savage (concussion) and linebacker Preston Smith (oblique). Cornerback Kevin King (shoulder) saw limited participation and wide receiver Equanimeous  St. Brown was a full participant.

In Thursday Night Football Denver plays at Cleveland.  Both teams are 3-3.

Andy Haines is out as the Milwaukee Brewers’ hitting coach after they scored a total of six runs in a four-game National League Division Series loss to the Atlanta Braves.  The Brewers announced Wednesday they wouldn’t be renewing Haines’ contract and told assistant hitting coach Jacob Cruz he is free to explore other options while the Brewers search for Haines’ replacement.  Haines had been the Brewers’ hitting coach for the last three seasons.

In the NLCS the Atlanta Braves scored four runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Dodgers 9-2 in Los Angeles to take a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven game series.  Eddie Rosario was 4-5 with two home runs and four RBI’s to lead the Braves.  The Dodgers Justin Turner injured his hamstring and is likely done for the year.  Game five is tonight in Los Angeles. .

In the ALCS the Astros took a 3-2 lead over the Red Sox with a 9-1 victory Wednesday.  The series returns to Houston on Friday.

In the NBA tonight the Bucks (1-0) are at Miami in the Heats opener.  The Bucks beat the Nets Tuesday night in Milwaukee to open their season.
