Kitchen Fire In Waupun

Unattended cooking was the cause of a kitchen fire that damaged an apartment in Waupun Tuesday night. Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says they responded to 1105 Rock Avenue just before 10 o’clock last evening and smoke was coming from the entry doors of the apartment building. Tenants told them there was a fire in a first-floor kitchen. The tenant had used a fire extinguisher, which helped contain the fire to the kitchen. The rest of the apartment was damaged by smoke. Ventilation fans were used to clear the building of smoke and tenants were allowed to return to their apartments except for the tenant whose apartment was damaged by the fire. That apartment dweller was able to find alternative lodging.
