FDL Police Officer Dies In The Line Of Duty

A 26-year-old Fond du Lac Police officer has died from complications from the COVID-19 virus. Police Chief Aaron Goldstein broke the news about the death of Officer Joseph Kurer Wednesday. Officer Kurer’s death is being considered in the line of duty. Officer Kurer was escorted from the hospital in Milwaukee to the funeral home by a 40-car law enforcement procession and Officers will stand vigil by his side until funeral services are complete. He joined the department a little over three years ago in August of 2018. Officer Kurer received awards as both a police officer and as a sergeant with the United State Army, Wisconsin National Guard. He received the police department’s life-saving award. Funeral arrangements are pending with law enforcement honors. Officer Kurer is survived by his wife and two children, his parents and sister.
