Little Green Lake Swimming Beach Closed Due To Blue-Green Algae

19 August 2021 News

The Green Lake County Health Department found out Wednesday about the presence of blue-green algae on Little Green Lake. For that reason the swimming beach at Soldiers and Sailors Park is closed until water conditions improve. Water conditions can change rapidly with blue-green algae blooms so it is advised you stay alert and watch for signs of blue-green algae prior to entering the water. Blue-green algae blooms can be toxic. The Health Department recommends avoid swallowing water and avoid touching the algae. Keep your pets from drinking water with the algae in it. The algae will look like pea soup or spilled paint with colored streaks. On the surface it appears as scum, mats, or films. For more information call the Green Lake County Health department at 920-294-4070.
