Speeder Had Reason To Run

A traffic stop for speeding Friday afternoon netted a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy a drug dealer from Illinois. The deputy pulled the 29-year-old man over on County Highway D near Brown Road in the Town of Fond du Lac. The deputy smelled the odor of drugs coming from the man who rather than exit his vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. After going through a red traffic signal at the intersection of County Highway D and Rolling Meadow Drive the suspect lost control of his vehicle and went into a ditch. The man had a half a pound of suspected cocaine and a pound of suspected ecstasy in the vehicle. He’s facing eluding, OWI first, and drug possession and trafficking charges. The pursuit was approximately three-quarters of a mile long.

Milwaukee Man Sentenced For Dodge County Shooting

A Milwaukee man who shot at the vehicle of man in Fox Lake nearly six years ago has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and two years of extended supervision. Twenty-seven-year-old Anthony McCaskill had previously been placed on probation by a Dodge County judge, but his probation was revoked and he was sentenced Friday on felony charges of discharging a firearm at a person and endangering safety. McCaskill believed the victim had committed a sexual act against his girlfriend leading to an altercation at the Kwik Trip in Fox Lake. The bullets were fired at the victim’s vehicle during a second altercation involving a high-speed chase on Highway 151 between McCaskill and the victim. No one was hurt during the incident that occurred in September of 2015.

More To The Story

A 2-month-old infant from Wisconsin Rapids, the subject of an Amber Alert, was found safe in Columbia County Thursday. But there’s more to the story about the recovery of Dorian Giesen. He was taken by his mother 28-year-old Haley Pelot and 36-year-old Nicholas Hope both of Wisconsin Rapids. Pelot is not the custodial parent of the child. Trying to avoid law enforcement they had spray-painted their vehicle and swapped out license plates. According to Columbia County Sheriff Roger Brandner they were hiding out in the apartment of 32-year-old Sonja Lawless of Rio. There was a brief standoff after Hope told officers he had a firearm. He and Pelot surrendered after about 30 minutes of negotiation. Hope and Pelot are facing charges in multiple counties. Lawless is being charged with aiding a felon.
