FDL Human Trafficking Arrests

An undercover human trafficking operation in Fond du Lac resulted in five arrests on multiple charges. Those arrested included two men from Fond du Lac, one from Oshkosh, one from Wautoma, and one from Berlin. State and local law enforcement including the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department and Fond du Lac Police targeted sex buyers and resulted in solicitation for prostitution charges. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says human trafficking is not a victimless crime. He says, “We know that most victims of sex trafficking are forced to participate by others through violence, intimidation, and coercion.” He added Fond du Lac is not immune to the trade and sale of human beings for sex.” The Wisconsin Department of Justice Department of Criminal Investigations, Lake Winnebago Area MEG Unit, and State Patrol were also involved in the investigation.
