The Bucks held the Suns to 9-for-31 shooting from beyond the arc in earning a 120-100 win over Phoenix in Game 3 and closed to 2-1 in the best of seven game series in the NBA Finals.  Devin Booker shot 3-for-14 overall and 1-for-7 from beyond the arc after draining seven of his 12 long-range attempts in Game 2. Booker finished with 10 points and Cameron Payne was held to seven on 3 of 10 from the field.  The Suns led by three until the Bucks outscored them, 35-17 in the second quarter. Milwaukee’s lead was 20 by the end of the third period.

Giannis Antetokounmpo shredded through the Suns with 41 points on 14 of 23 shooting. Antetokounmpo also was 13 of 17 from the line, grabbed 13 rebounds and had six assists.  Jrue (jroo) Holiday finished with 21 points and Khris Middleton had 18 after both experienced shooting woes in Game 2 on Thursday.  Chris Paul had a team-high 19 points for the Suns, one more than Jae Crowder and Deandre Ayton. Nick Castellanos hit a tiebreaking two-run single off All-Star closer Josh Hader with two outs in the ninth inning, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 on Sunday. The Reds took three of four in the series to pull within four games of the NL Central-leading Brewers. The teams begin a three-game set in Cincinnati on Friday night. The Brewers (53-39) and Reds (48-42) are the only teams in the division with winning records at the All-Star break.

Hader (3-2) came in to pitch the ninth after he surrendered a game-winning homer to Eugenio Suárez on Saturday night. He hit Suárez on Sunday, and Kyle Farmer followed with a pinch-hit single. After a strikeout, Hader walked Jonathan India to load the bases before Castellanos laced a hit up the middle. Ryan Hendrix (5-1), the fourth of five Reds relievers, got two outs for the win. Josh Osich worked a perfect ninth for his first career save in his 246th appearance.

The Reds jumped in front in the first against All-Star right-hander Brandon Woodruff. Joey Votto singled in Jesse Winker, but Tyler Stephenson grounded into an inning-ending double play. The Brewers loaded the bases against Luis Castillo in the fourth, but Castillo struck out Woodruff to end the threat.

Elsewhere in the NL Central on Sunday the Pirates edged the Reds 6-5 and the Cardinals and the Cubs were postponed.  Going into the All-Star break the Brewers lead the Reds by 4 games, the Cubs and Cardinals by 8 and the Pirates 18 games.

Tonight the T-Mobile Home Run Derby takes place at Denver’s Coors Field. .  The group features the defending champion (the Mets’ Pete Alonso, who had to wait two years after winning in 2019) and a talented group of seven challengers: the Rangers’ Joey Gallo, the Orioles’ Trey Mancini, the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani, the A’s Matt Olson, the Royals’ Salvador Perez, the Nationals’ Juan Soto and the Rockies’ Trevor Story.  Then, tomorrow night the Major League All-Star game will be played at  Coors Field.

In the two-game series matchup of Great Lakes division leaders, the Dock Spiders finished off the sweep of Kenosha with a come-from-behind win. On Sunday evening, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders defeated the Kenosha Kingfish, 9-7.  The Dock Spiders (27-14) will travel to Capital Credit Union Park Monday to meet the Green Bay Booyah for the first time in the second half NWL season with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.

On the Men’s PGA Tour, Lucas Glover shot a final-round 64 to win the John Deere Classic by two strokes over Ryan Moore and Kevin Na.  Glover finished at 265, 19 strokes under par.  It was Glover’s fourth PGA Tour victory.

In Nascar Kurt Busch outdueled his younger brother Kyle Busch in the pair’s fourth career 1-2 finish to secure his 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs position and take his 33rd career victory in Sunday’s Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart.
