The call is not from an insurance company and is a scam. Sheriff’s officials urge residents to be vigilant when receiving unsolicited phone calls from any company, even if the number is local. They caution not to give out any personal information and not to send any money or purchase gift cards as a result of the calls.

Heidel House Economic Impact
The Heidel House Hotel and Conference Center is expected to have a positive impact on the area economy now that it is open for business once again. Don Klain is one of the owners and the president of Lighthouse Hospitality Group which manages the historic hotel in Green Lake. He says they signed a franchise agreement with Choice Hotels, which will give them a broader distribution through national avenues that will bring a lot more people to the area. “We’re anticipating somewhere around 40,000 to 50,000 guests per year that will be going through that will be staying at the Heidel House or going through in terms of weddings and business meetings, and banquets and etcetera and that’s very big for the regional economy.” He says area grocery stores, restaurants, and water sports businesses will benefit from the Heidel House being open again. Klain says golf courses are also making money off of guests that chose the Heidel House’s “Stay and Play” package and the Escapade Yacht is offering tours for a number of venues.
Making Headway Against The Virus
A member of the Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force says it is not hard to find more positive news about our battle with COVID-19 these days. Jeff Puhlmann Becker says new cases, deaths and hospitalizations have dropped in the state and for the first time in more than a year the Fond du Lac County Safe Restart dashboard is green for all five key metrics. “For the first time ever everything is green or the first time I remember I should say and the last holdout was contact tracing that was at 90-some percent and now it is at 100 percent.” He says over 90 percent of those who have died from the coronavirus were not vaccinated, which says something about the effectiveness of the vaccines against the variants.

Waupun Concerts In The Park
Waupun Fine Arts brings music to West End Park on Beaver Dam Street each Thursday evening this month. Lori Page is the President and co-founder of the organization. She says the concerts are free unless you would like to make a free will offering, which defrays the cost of putting on the concert series. Things get started with concessions opening at 5:30 and the performance is at 6:30. “5:30 concessions or just come and sit and enjoy the shade, beautiful surrounding shade trees and a nice pavilion and it is right on Beaver Dam Street just south of the hospital.” Page says the music will vary each week. For example the Del Rays performed hits from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s last week and tonight Genesee Ridge Bluegrass Band will perform bluegrass. The series wraps up on July 29th with Remington’s Ride.
