Inmate Dies At The FDL County Jail

An inmate was found dead in his cell at the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Jail late Friday night. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says jail staff found the man unconscious and not breathing and began life-saving measures. Those continued when Fond du Lac paramedics arrived, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The man suffered from pre-existing medical conditions and was being housed in a medical cell, but the cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office. Waldschmidt says his office is working with the medical examiner’s office, the Wisconsin Corrections Department, and an outside law enforcement agency investigating the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death.
