Information Sought In Golf Course Break Ins
The Dodge and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Departments are looking for a man that broke into the Golf Club at Camelot in Lomira early last Thursday morning. The same person may have broken into the Auburn Bluffs Golf Course in Campbellsport. Officials at Camelot say the man broke in forcefully about 4 am and robbed their facility. Surveillance photos of the suspect have been posted on the Dodge County Sheriff’s Facebook page. The suspect may have been driving a small brown vehicle seen driving slowly on Highway 67 early last Thursday morning. Anyone with information should contact the Dodge or Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Offices.
River Rescue In FDL

Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue rescued a Fond du Lac woman from the Fond du Lac River late Monday morning after getting a report about a person operating a lawn tractor near the riverbank who veered off into the river. They responded to the call shortly after 11 am. The woman was rescued from the water. She was treated and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Department officials say they are grateful to the nearby residents who quickly jumped into action when they heard the accident.
Deadline Extended For Green Lake County Coroner’s Position
Governor Tony Evers has extended the application deadline for appointing a Green Lake County coroner. Application materials must be submitted by 5 pm on July 16th. The appointment will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Dr. John Wilett, which became effective on May 1st. The new coroner will complete Willett’s term, which runs through January 1st, 2023. Interested applicants must submit an online application with a cover letter. Protecting State Natural Resources
State Senator Joan Ballweg says she’s pleased the Joint Finance Committee was able to continue the State Stewardship Fund and include more money in the State Budget for payment in lieu of taxes. The state lawmaker from Markesan says they extended the Stewardship program for another four years and included $33.25 million in the budget for it. She says it’s important to protect our natural resources and waterways and balance that with opportunities for development. Meanwhile more money was included in the budget for the payment in lieu of taxes program, which pays municipalities for providing police and fire protection on DNR owned lands. She points out payment in lieu of taxes was only paying some communities 50 cents an acre and now that will be increased to $3.50 an acre.
Amazon Scam
Markesan Police are warning residents about scammers claiming to be with “Amazon.” The caller will say they are calling about a large order you placed, mostly likely the order amount will be $1,000 or greater. They will tell you there is something wrong with your order. If you tell them you didn’t order anything they will tell you there is a way to correct the issue They will either ask you for your information and banking information or they will ask you to log onto your computer. If you give them your information they will either steal it or attempt to access your banking account or credit cards. If you go onto your computer they will have you click on a link that allows them to access your computer. If you tell them you don’t have an Amazon account they will tell you steps to close the account opened in your name. Police advise hanging up or not taking a call from someone claiming to be with Amazon.
SSM Health Urges Getting Vaccinated Against COVID
With the Delta variant of COVID-19 spurring another wave of infections throughout the U.S., SSM Health is urging all eligible individuals to be vaccinated against the coronavirus as quickly as possible. SSM Health Wisconsin Interim Regional President Matt Hanley says, “These vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective at providing long-lasting immunity to COVID-19.” But he adds that we haven’t reached a level of vaccination that provides herd immunity. In the seven months since administering its first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, SSM Health’s Wisconsin Region has administered more than 263,000 doses to employees and community members. SSM Health is requiring all of its nearly 40,000 employees, providers and volunteers across the System’s four state area to be fully vaccinated by the end of September.
Oshkosh Yard Waste Reminder
The Sanitation Division of the City of Oshkosh is reminding residents that due to the City’s observance of Independence Day, the City’s yard waste drop-off site will be closed on Sunday and Monday, July 4th and 5th. Residential curbside brush collection for July will take place on the regularly scheduled garbage collection day the week of July 5th through July 9th.
