A Case For Herd Immunity
A member of the Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force says some states are reaping the rewards of having reached a 70 or better percentage of residents who have been fully immunized against the coronavirus. Jeff Puhlmann-Becker says Vermont opened for business without exceptions after reaching an 80 percent vaccination rate and California and New York also reached what is considered the level for herd immunity. “We got three states that are feeling really good about where they are in terms of their vaccination rate and being very aggressive about reopening, but this is all based on the case that is made about herd immunity that the more people that are vaccinated there are fewer places for the virus to go.” In New York City Sunday night the Foo Fighters performed at a concert in Madison Square Garden the first full capacity show at that celebrated venue since the pandemic began.
