Two Killed In Three Vehicle Accident In Shawano County

A 36-year-old Appleton man and his passenger a 13-year-old boy from Appleton were killed when the motorcycle they were on was involved in a three-vehicle accident on State Highway 47 at South Highline Road in Shawano County Saturday afternoon. The State Patrol says Adam Brown was driving his 1985 Harley Davidson south on State Highway 47 when it struck the rear of a 2002 Ford Ranger. The bike then crossed into the northbound lane where it collided with a 2002 Dodge Caravan. Brown and the boy died at the scene. No one in the pickup was hurt, but a 71-year-old Shawano man driving the van and his passenger, a 64-year-old Shawano woman, were taken to Theda Clark Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Fire In FDL Damages Porch

Seven people in Fond du Lac were displaced by a porch fire at a duplex late Saturday night. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue officials say the blaze damaged a porch that was part of the entryway to the upper unit of the duplex at 331 West Division Street. A doorway and some siding were also damaged. No one was injured during the fire. Investigators say the cause was from improperly discarded smoking materials. The seven people who lived in the upper unit are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Ripon Fire Chief Talks About Battle With COVID 19

Ripon Area Fire District Chief Tim Saul says he was reluctant to have a celebratory procession out of the hospital after he went through a life-threatening battle with COVID-19. More than 70 nurses and doctors lined the hallways at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in January and cheered when he was pushed out of the hospital in a wheelchair. He says when he was first approached about celebrating the moment he turned it down, but eventually relented because it was as much about the nurses who took care of him as it was about surviving what he went through during his more than 30 day stay there. His message for people about the coronavirus, it’s a real threat. “In my opinion it is real from what I have been through, but the way the community rallied around me. People I don’t even know send me cards and leaving me voicemails at the fire station. The community support was just amazing.” He feels he is about 70 to 75 percent back on his road to recovery and back at work.

Breakfast On The Farm Coming Up At The End Of The Month

Breakfast on the Farm in Fond du Lac County won’t be a drive-through event at the end of the month like last year’s dairy celebration. People will be able to attend and socialize like normal as the rebound from the pandemic slowly continues. Amy Ries is the Director of Agricultural Programs for Envision Greater Fond du Lac. She says it will be a little different because the host farm LaClare Family Creamery is a goat farm that produces goat cheese. “Obviously when people think of June Dairy Month they think of Dairy being cows, but actually Fond du Lac County is kind of an epicenter in the country of a rising goat dairy population as well.” Breakfast on the Farm is on Sunday, June 27th from 8 am to Noon. It will feature a country-style breakfast that includes cheesy potatoes. There will also be live music, antique farm equipment on display, a kiddie tractor pull, educational area, children’s activity areas and more. Tickets are available through Envision Greater Fond du Lac and will also be available at the farm.

MyChart

More and more health care providers are going to online sites to remind people about their doctors’ appointments and share test results and information that might benefit their health. Agnesian HealthCare, a member of SSM Health, uses what is called MyChart. DeAnn Thurmer is the president of the Ripon Medical Center and Waupun Memorial Hospital. She says it is convenient for those who use it and also gives them the opportunity to directly email their doctor about health care concerns. “That’s a communication that we have so that as a patient you sign up and you can go into your MyChart and look at your labs, look at when your next appointments are and at times communicate with your doctor via email message.” She says one of the benefits is making test results available as soon as they are entered into the SSM Health system.
