Homeless Man Charged For FDL And Washington County Traffic Chase
9 June 2021 News
A 47-year-old homeless man from Berwyn, Illinois has been charged in Fond du Lac County court for leading authorities on a 27-mile chase in Fond du Lac and Washington counties Sunday afternoon. Bond was set at $18,000 cash for Matthew Mulac who is facing felony charges for stealing a pickup truck and leading officers on a pursuit. According to the criminal complaint Mulac took the truck from a dealership in Illinois saying it was unlocked and he thought it was a sign he should take it. But he had to break into the dealership to get the keys for it. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull over the truck on Interstate 41 after other drivers reported a reckless driver driving a truck with front end damage. The pursuit concluded after Mulac ran over several tire deflation devices and crashed taking a Highway 60 off ramp in Washington County. The deputy who wrote up the complaint believed Mulac might have some mental health issues. Mulac will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on June 17th.
