Fire Damages Home In The Town Of Waupun

Fire damaged a home at N3352 Lori Lane in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Waupun late Sunday night. The County Communications Center got a 911 call just before midnight from a home owner reporting the ceiling being blistering hot and the smell of heat in the kitchen. The Waupun Fire Department and a Sheriff’s deputy responded. Firefighters located the blaze in the attic and extinguished it. David and Paulette Smit own the home and were there at the time of the fire. As a result of the fire there was some structural damage including having to remove part of the ceiling to remove burnt material. No one was hurt and the fire is not considered suspicious. The cause is suspected to be electrical. Fire departments from the Town of Alto and Brandon/Fairwater assisted at the scene.
