Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services Thursday reported the 7-day average for new cases fell to below 300 for the first time since June 21st of last year. The average is now 285 new cases a day. Yesterday did see 282 new cases, but the news wasn’t all good with 37 more deaths reported to bring the death toll since the pandemic began to 7,040 lives lost. The state is no longer reporting daily hospitalizations, but the Wisconsin Hospital Association says there are 227 people around the state hospitalized with COVID-19 and 70 of them are in intensive care units.
Winnebago County reports 44.6 percent of its population has had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 39.5 percent are fully immunized. In Fond du Lac County those numbers are 40.4 percent and 35.7 percent respectively and in Dodge County 37.9 percent and 33.6 percent. In Green Lake County 41.1 percent of residents have received at least one shot in the arm and 37.3 percent are fully immunized and in Marquette County those numbers are 39.9 and 36.9 percent. In Waushara County 32.6 percent of residents have gotten at least one dose of vaccine and 30.3 percent are fully immunized while in Waupaca County those numbers are 39.7 and 35.4 percent respectively.
