Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services Thursday reported more than 2.3 million residents or just over 40 percent of the state’s population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The DHS also reports the state is on pace this weekend to pass more than 5 million “shots in the arm” or at least one dose of vaccine being administered to people. Meanwhile 448 new cases or 11.8 percent of the 3,779 test results that came back were positive for the coronavirus. Two deaths were reported to bring the death toll to 6,978 lives lost to the virus. The DHS also says 63 people were hospitalized.
Winnebago County reports 42.9 percent of its residents have gotten at least one shot of vaccine and 38 percent are fully vaccinated. In Fond du Lac County those numbers are 39 percent and 34.7 percent and in Dodge County they are 36.8 percent and 32.6 percent. Green Lake County reports 40 percent of its residents have gotten at least one shot in the arm and 36.2 percent are fully immunized while in Marquette County those numbers are 39 percent and 35.9 percent. Thirty-two percent of Waushara County residents have gotten at least one shot of vaccine and 29.3 percent are fully immunized and in Waupaca County those numbers are 38.4 percent and 34.1 percent.
