State health officials say the 7-day average for new COVID-19 cases is dropping as vaccination efforts continue. On May 2nd the average was 649 new cases a day, but yesterday it had fallen to 553 new cases. On Sunday 308 new cases were reported the lowest amount since April 5th. That made up 8 percent of the 3,809 test results that came back. No new deaths were reported keeping the death toll since the pandemic began in Wisconsin at 6,904 lives. On Sunday the Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 316 people are being treated in state hospitals for the coronavirus and 82 of them are in intensive care units.
No new COVID-19 cases were reported in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Waushara and Winnebago counties Sunday. One new case was reported in Waupaca County.
