Victims Of Canoeing Accident Identified Search Continues
31 March 2021 News
Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says recovery efforts will continue on Lake Winnebago today for two 21-year-old Fond du Lac men missing since Monday night when their canoe capsized in high winds and waves. Waldschmidt says the recovery effort is concentrating on an area in the southwest corner of the Lake where Dakota Goldapske and Michael Gohde were able to place 911 calls for help and where their partially submerged canoe and debris were located Monday night. Waldschmidt says efforts continued to be hampered Tuesday by strong winds on the Lake gusting from 20 to 35 miles an hour. He says they also express their condolences to the victims’ friends and family who remained on shore during search efforts.
