Update On FDL County Standoff Shooting

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office has released more details about a domestic incident at a Town of Taycheedah residence that led to a brief standoff incident during a traffic stop early Sunday morning. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says a 29-year-old man had a physical altercation with his 36-year-old girlfriend at his residence and fired off one round from a handgun at her. The Fond du Lac woman was able to escape and call 9-1-1. A friend of the suspect’s arrived at the residence and allowed him to hide in the trunk of his vehicle as he tried to transport the suspect to a different location. The vehicle was stopped by Sheriff’s deputies and during a brief standoff the suspect shot himself which led to his death at a regional trauma center. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident at the suspect’s home while the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what occurred during the traffic stop.
