Oshkosh Man Sentenced In Retired Police Captain’s Death

The 29-year-old Oshkosh man who killed a retired Oshkosh Police Captain has been sentenced to 30 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision. A Winnebago County judge Monday sentenced Ian Suzuki for the stabbing death of 67-year-old Jay Puestohl. Charges against Suzuki stemmed from the murder of Puestohl on February 2nd of last year. Suzuki was a guest in his mother’s home and had a history of mental health issues. When Puestohl tried to kick him out of the home the two got into a fight. Suzuki went to the kitchen and got a knife and stabbed Puestohl in the neck. Suzuki pleaded no contest to a first degree reckless homicide charge on January 6th.
