Vaccine Represents Hope

A member of the Ripon Community COVID 19 Task Force says the new coronavirus vaccine from Johnson & Johnson coupled with those from Pfizer and Moderna represent hope for a return to a more normal life. Unemployment Insurance Relief Bill

State Representative Alex Dallman says an Unemployment Insurance Relief Bill passed by the State Assembly will upgrade the state’s unemployment system. The state lawmaker from Green Lake says Governor Evers has been critical of the Department of Workforce Development and the Unemployment Insurance System, but it is something he has had the power to do since he has been in office.  He says COVID-19 put a lot of people out of work through no fault of their own and some have waited months to get unemployment checks that they were due to help them through the rough times.

Microsoft Scam

Police in Markesan are warning residents about a variation on the Microsoft Windows scam. Recently a resident had a pop up on their computer that advised them that they needed to “update” their Microsoft Windows and that they should click on this and download the “update.”  The person contacted someone with Microsoft and they advised it was a scam/virus and that it originated from a foreign country. Police recommend being careful about clicking on anything that pops up on your computer and wants you to click on it. They say if you have a question about such things give them a call they would be happy to help you out.

Hintz Praises UW Oshkosh Project Funding

State Representative Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh says he’s thrilled Governor Evers has included $26.9 million in his capital budget proposal to complete the second phase of the Clow Hall/ Nursing Education Building at the UW-Oshkosh. Hintz says he’s worked hard for many years to renovate Clow Hall, starting with getting the project approved in 2011 and approving funding for Phase I in 2013, which was completed in 2016. He says the need for Phase II renovation has only grown as approval has been delayed.  The State Building Commission will meet on March 17th to vote on the Governor’s recommendations, and will then move on to the Committee on Joint Finance.
